How long have you been in business?
NSVC was established in 1990. Our eye care specialists have extensive clinical experience in their fields of interest. They are nationally known experts who continually conduct research and publish in the professional literature.
What is your primary product or service?
NSVC provides expert and compassionate care in a variety of eye care services including the treatment of eye diseases (medical and surgical), specialty contact lens management (including the treatment of keratoconus and other corneal diseases), pediatric eye care, binocular vision services and vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation. NSVC also has a complete optical service with in office laboratory that provides the most advanced spectacle lens technologies along with the most sought after fashions in eye wear.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Dr. S. Barry Eiden is president and medical director and founder of North Suburban Vision Consultants. He was trained at the University Eye Center of the State University of New York (SUNY) and completed his residency training in eye disease management in affiliation with the Illinois Eye Institute/Illinois College of Optometry and the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center, department of Ophthalmology. He served as chief of primary eye care services at the University Eye Center of SUNY for 4 years prior to establishing NSVC in 1990.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
NSVC is dedicated to providing the highest level of expertise in a variety of eye care sub-specialty areas by bringing together experts in their particular fields. Their commitment to ongoing research and development and clinical academic pursuits allows the specialists at NSVC to bring the state of the art in eye care and technology to our patients.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
NSVC has 2 locations. Our main office and founding office is in Deerfield and our second location is in Park Ridge. We will concentrate on providing the best care for our patients at these two locations. We have expanded our facilities a number of times over the past years and have plans to continue to expand at these locations.

Our Deerfield office is located at 360 S. Waukegan Road (Suite A), which is south of Lake Cook Rd and just north of the Tollway spur on the west side of the street. Our Park Ridge location is at 303 N. Northwest Highway, approximately 1 mile east of Greenwood and just west of downtown Park Ridge on the north side of the street.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept payment via credit card (Visa, Master card, Discover card), debit cards, personal checks and of course cash. We are participating providers for most major medical insurance carriers for medical eye care services (including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, PHCS, Humana, Aetna and others). We participate in a limited number of vision plans (please ask our staff for details). We also provide access to interest free payment programs via Care Credit.
Which areas do you service?
We serve the entire Chicago area and often see patients referred from out of state and even out of the country. Our expertise in our specialty areas brings patients to NSVC from near and far.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Our director of business operations is Ms. Trissy Miller.
What are your hours of operation?
Our Deerfield office is open 6 days per week (closed on Sundays). We have evening hours on Tuesday and Thursday. Our Park Ridge office is open Tuesday through Saturday, evening hours also available.
