Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I've been in private practice of clinical psychology since 1989, although I practiced psychology and psychotherapy before that.
What is your primary product or service?
Psychotherapy, psychological evaluation, counseling, consultation, and coaching.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became interested in psychology as an undergraduate at Goddard College, then received a Masters of Science in Psychology with Emphasis in Counselor Education from Southern Connecticut State College, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
There are a lot of therapists in Evanston, and I enjoy collegial relationships with many, especially through my position as Chair of Peer Study Groups for the Chicago Association of Psychoanalytic Psychology. Every therapist and diagnostician is also unique. I bring interests in psychology, neuroscience, education, business, art, and spirituality to my work. I tend to be pretty forthright and interactive.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
My main location is my home office, near Evanston Hospital.
What type of payments do you accept?
Checks, credit cards, Paypal.
What are your hours of operation?
By appointment.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The wife of a client said, during Thanksgiving dinner when they were giving thanks for various things, "I am thankful for counseling," that is, counseling for her husband.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
"People think that they think things, and think that they know things. They could usefully give some attention to the question of whether they know what they think, and know what they think they know." --Idries Shah
