How long have you been in business?

What is your primary product or service?
Various health insurance plans as well as supplemental plans such as Accidental Injury, Cancer, Dental, Final Expense, Life Insurance, Medicare supplements including Medicare Advantage and Medicare Rx plans and Vision insurance plans.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
After being a Store Manager and a Police Officer, I decided that I wanted to become an Illinois Independent Insurance Agent and I went through the training, licensing, etc. and started out as an Independent Agent with AFLAC. within a few years I was promoted to a District Manager and then onto being the Chicagoland Regional Manager which included the counties of Cook, Kane, DuPage, Lake and McHenry. After seven years with AFLAC, I became the Illinois State Manager for Capitol One Insurance Company (as an Independent Contractor). After several years I then continued my own Independent Insurance Agency, representing just over 10 different insurance companies so to be able to better serve my current clients as well as future clients.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
True personalized Customer Service and Online Meetings! My clients can list a lot more things that differentiate my Agency from the others!
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I'm able to provide my insurance services to all residents residing in Illinois, Maryland and Virginia.
Provide detailed directions to your location
No need to travel to my office since I am able to share my computer screen with clients in real time. So if you're looking for a quote, wanting to go through benefits, etc. of a health insurance plan, or even apply online, you will be able to do that with me in real time, via a simple and secured internet process. This is something that I've been doing for over 15 years with great success for my clients.
What type of payments do you accept?
My Agency does not accept any payments. All payments are made directly to the insurance companies and can be done for the most part, either by Bank Draft (Automatic Withdrawal), as well as by personal check or credit/debit card.
Which areas do you service?
I'm licensed and certified in the entire state of Illinois, Maryland and Virginia.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
My company, Edwin J. Tazelaar, II Insurance Agency is owned and operated by me since January 1978. Our clients are proof of our professional service in assisting them with their insurance needs.
What are your hours of operation?
8:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. everyday, including weekends and holidays. I am also available at other times when an appointment is made.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
Compliments come in all shapes and sizes and depend upon the individual giving the compliment. For the most part my received compliments range from: Caring, Credible, Honest, Knowledgeable, Trustworthy, etc. I think that the greatest compliment I'm given is the number of clients that stay with me year after year and who also recommend me to their family members, friends and business associates.
