How long have you been in business?
Coming up is our 69th summer! Decoma Day Camp was founded in 1949.
What is your primary product or service?
We are a Traditional Summer Day Camp for boys and girls ages 3 to 13. Optional specialty camps are offered in Golf, Tennis, Dance, Horseback Riding and Music. The Decoma camp grounds are available for rental on the weekends for corporate picnics, family reunions and summer events.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
In 1949, Eugene Deutsch (a young elementary school PE teacher in Chicago) founded the camp as a way to provide summer programs for the neighborhood children. To this day Eugene and the extended Deutsch Family continue carry on the camp's traditions.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Each child at Decoma receives a great deal of individual attention! Small camp groups are led by mature and experienced counselors (usually teachers or individuals who have completed at least two years of college) who are actively engaged with the children throughout the camp day. Recreational and social skill development through a balanced program of activities in a safe, fun-filled environment. Parents enjoy our flexible programming and can select any weeks during the summer and the weeks need not be consecutive. Twice daily swimming, expert Red Cross Instruction, daily hot lunch, transportation, extended care option, and fantastic activities are all included in the camp fee.

What are your hours of operation?
The summer camp program begins at 9:30 and campers leave for home at 3:30 Monday through Friday. However we offer an extended care option. Parents may drop off their children as early as 7:30 am and pick up as late as 5:30 pm. at no additional cost.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
Often parents will tell us that over the summer they've seen their children grow and mature thanks to our care and dedication. We are thrilled when our campers can't wait for June when they can return for another Decoma summer and reunite with their camp friends!
